December 1 2024, First Sunday of Advent

Church holidays and memories of saints this week:

  • Tuesday, December 3, memorial of Saint Francis Xavier SI, priest.
  • Friday, December 6, memory  of St. Nicholas, bishop.
  • Saturday, December 7, memorial of Saint Ambrose, Bishop and Doctor of the Church.

Advent has begun a new liturgical year. Advent has a dual character. It is a period of preparation for the celebration of the Nativity of the Lord, when we commemorate the first coming of the Son of God. At the same time, it is a period that directs souls to expect His second coming at the end of time. For both of these reasons, Advent is a period of pious and joyful expectation.

We are accompanied by the color purple and the Advent wreath, where we light subsequent candles in accordance with the passage of time. In the Polish tradition, we have a Holy Mass, which we call RORATAY. This is a Mass, where, looking at Mary, the Mother of God, we try to use her help during the preparations for Christmas.

We invite you to the RORATY Mass on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 6:00 p.m.

Daily Holy Mass is celebrated at 6:00 p.m.

Sunday Mass:

      • in Russian at 3:00 PM
      • in English at 4:00 PM
